If you get tired of the letters game, let's see how well you know the United States (thanks to Shepard Software):

alphabet soup

i could play this for hours:

Some flash-animation guru with a penchant for colorful letters of the alphabet dreamt up this project that lets - 133 people when I was playing on it - simultaneously try to create words or mess up someone else's word play. My suggestion: get a group of friends together and try to spell something. And let me know

it doesn't have to be pink...

Just discovered the blog "Popgadget: Personal Tech for Women"
the site appears to have all female contributors and offers a female perspective on the gadgets. Much better than my site (so far...)
notables:

The ice-cream yo-yo
The Collabowobble, some new method of playing video games by bouncing on a giant ball to send the computer commands
And, my favorite, the Kilowatt Game Controller, which forces you to excercise to play video games.

$$ tivo $$

What's not to like about Tivo? It pauses live TV and records shows so much easier than a VCR. I have three (two real Tivo's and one from the cable company) and am thinking about buying a Media Center PC.
So this Broadcasting & Cable story was quite interesting because it mentions how much money Tivo is making from its $12.99 subscription service = about $12.05 per customer. Maybe the end of Tivo is near, as the article suggests... (we opted to pay the one-time $299 fee)

skeleton kitty

Since our favorite cartoon characters will never die, artist Michael Paulus imagined what their bones looked like. Where can I buy one?

Google even does the work so you'll add its search button to your site:

Just follow this link: http://www.google.com/searchcode.html#both

sunflowers

there is so much stuff happening in the world that it's hard to keep track. Here's some 5-day-old info that I just just noticed: biodegradable cell phones that sprout into sunflowers.

(There are sunflower seeds inside so when you throw the phone away, the shell degrades and the seed blooms - smart & pretty!)

i want my PTV!

just saw this today: the Epson LivingStation. It's a 57-inch TV with HDTV rear projection. Picture looked okay. Then I discovered it also has memory-card slots to slide in your digital photos. Voila! Your photos pop up on the screen for instant slideshow.
.... OR ... hit print on the remote control and out shoots a 4x6 ink-jet picture fresh from the TV's built-in ink-jet printer.
.... How very Epson. Worth the $3,500? Hmm...

tomato slices

In light of the current tomato shortage, I've found this sign of the future of tomatoes on great gadget blog Engadget.
A robot that picks tomatoes ... in space!

And while I'm at it, take a look at this fine piece of tomato reporting by Diana McCabe at the Orange County Register and, of course, don't forget to read the fascinating factoid box on the side.

comically clever

why don't i read the comic pages in the newspaper anymore? good thing someone is and pointing out stuff like this

music frees the soul

Interesting effort by a supporter of the fair-music-rights organization called Downhill Battle. Someone named sera939z is auctioning off a special-edition U2 ipod and will donate the funds to Downhill Battle.
........
sera939z uploaded music from Negativeland, an experimental sound collage band that sampled U2's "i still haven't found what i'm looking for." U2 sued the band, which tried to fight it but ran out of funds and finally settled.
